This pattern purchase includes the following files: instructions, A4 print-at-home pattern, A0 copy shop pattern, and plotter pattern for large format printing on a roll.
Carla is a pair of close-fitting trousers, flared from the knee down. The trousers do not have a waistband, the waist is finished with a facing. The front features side panels that imitate slash pockets. There are waist darts at the back. In place of the front waist darts, there are vents that serve as closures. The trousers close with buttons and buttonholes and are floor-length.
Recommended materials:
To sew these trousers, choose suiting fabrics with the following properties:
• medium-weight, pliable, soft, with good stretch
• the fiber content should include elastane or spandex and can also include natural fibers (wool, cotton), artificial fibers (viscose), blends (wool + silk, wool + polyester, cotton + viscose, etc.), and synthetics (polyester, polyamide)
• the following fabrics are recommended: wool suiting, gabardine.
Attention! We do not recommend fabrics without elastane or very stretchy materials (knits).
Fabric requirements
1. Main fabric
IMPORTANT! When purchasing fabric, please account for shrinkage and buy 5% more than required.
2. Lightweight interfacing, knit or woven, 140cm (55”) wide, for all sizes and heights – 0.25m (1/4yd).
3. Stitch-reinforced fusible stay tape, 1cm (3/8”) wide – 1.7m (1 7/8yd).
4. Eight buttons, 2–2.2cm in diameter
5. Matching thread – 5 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 4 spools for the overlocker).
Equipment
• sewing machine for construction
• overlocker for finishing raw edges. This may be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3mm, stitch length 2.5mm)
• buttonhole foot for the sewing machine
• edgestitch foot for the sewing machine (optional).
