Who is the class for?

You have a ready to wear garment you love and want to replicate it as you’ve worn it to death. Or because you want it in a whole array of fabrics and colours!
- You want to learn from a senior pattern cutter who has worked with top design houses such as The Vampires Wife, Victoria Beckham and Halpern.

This workshop is inclusive to all levels. Perfect if you are new to pattern making and looking to dip your toe in, and equally perfect if you are looking to develop your existing skills and knowledge.

You would like to understand how to measure a garment accurately and learn key points on garments allowing you to replicate it

You’ve seen a designer or vintage item that you love that you can borrow, and you want to recreate it. Now is your opportunity!

You’d rather not buy fast fashion and want to learn skills to make your own clothes. Ones that you can cherish for a long time.
What will you learn?
- How to measure a garment accurately.
- Become familiar with the skills needed to trace and replicate a garment.
- How to label your pattern giving it a professional look and finish.
- Skills which can be applied to other drafting projects. This is a great foundation to drafting your own patterns.
- New confidence in your skills so you can do this again by yourself.
What will you need?
- Your garment to trace: a top or blouse (we will be in touch to ensure you choose a garment that will help you get the most out of the class)
- Notebook
- Calico or a similar weight fabric to make up your toile up in.
What is included?
- Use of our sewing machines and overlockers
- Use of a number of high cutting tables
- Use of any equipment you might need
- Pattern paper.

Refreshments
Tea, coffee and biscuits/snacks will be available throughout the class. We recommend that you bring lunch with you as there are not many options to purchase lunch nearby.
We have a kitchen with a fridge and microwave here at the studio.
Photography
Photographs are sometimes taken during the class for promotional purposes. If you would prefer not to be photographed, please let us know.
About Our Studio
Our Sewing classes are all held in our spacious sewing studio in Brighton & Hove. Our Sewing studio is easily accessible by train (nearest station Fishersgate) or bus from Brighton. We also have parking on site.
Accessibility
Our studio is only accessible by stairs.
For those who wish to purchase fabric on the day, we offer a 10% discount. If you would like to order your fabric before the class, please email us for a discount code.
