The Ray Pinafore is a three-quarter length dress that finishes just below the calf. It fits close around the bust but falls loose and straight to the hem in a trapeze shape with no waist shaping. The back is low, but it is designed to cover most bra fastenings. The pinafore has low armholes so can be worn over layers and slips over the head without any zips or openings. There are in-seam pockets in the side seam and the hem has wide splits on both sides with a deep hem facing. There are three different strap options.

Ability:

The pattern is suitable for an intermediate sewist. It would also be a good project for an advanced beginner looking to upgrade their skills.

Fabric recommendation:

This pattern was designed especially for woven, medium weight fabrics like linen, ramie and cotton twill. It would also make up well in some heavier fabrics like cotton drill or denim. It suits a stable fabric. Drapey or slinky fabrics like crepe or satin will take the difficulty level up considerably. Stretch fabrics are not suitable.

Techniques involved:

You will learn how to sew an in-seam pocket, how to create functional vents and how to finish a hem with a facing.

Sizing info:

This pattern is suitable for a person with a hip measurement between 34"— 65". The files are separated into two size ranges 6—22 and 18—34. Both size ranges are included with your purchase. 34"-65"

Sizes 18/20/22 overlap between both size ranges so you can still grade up or down easily if you are on the edge of a size range.

The pattern was drafted for a person who is 5'7" but there are lengthening and shortening lines included on the pattern.

See below for the body and garment measurements.
