The Lettie Skirt is a midi-length six-panel skirt featuring a partial button placket with integrated buttonholes, an elastic back, and flat piping details. The skirt's design creates a versatile, everyday staple with subtle details that elevate the garment. You can wear it with a tee shirt and tennis shoes for everyday wear or a button-up and heels for the office or a night out. The engaging construction details make for an interesting and enjoyable sewing experience.

The Lettie Skirt's design utilizes zero-waste pattern-cutting techniques and features interlocking pattern pieces that come together to create a whole. While the goal of designing a zero-waste sewing pattern is to use all the required fabric, the Lettie Skirt is minimal waste to accommodate a wide range of sizes.

Fabric Recommendations:

Mid-weight woven fabrics - Linen, cotton or Tencel twill, hemp, canvas, or lightweight denim. Fabrics with a good deal of drape will create a more relaxed, fluid garment; while a stiffer, heavier fabric will be more structured.

Notions:

Interfacing:

  • 1 1/2”(3.8cm) wide non-roll, non-fusible waistband interfacing such as Petersham, – Cut to measure (approximately half of your waist circumference plus 4"(10.2cm)). See notes for substitution option.

Elastic:

  • 1 1/2”(3.8cm) wide non-roll elastic – Cut to measure (approximately half of your waist circumference minus 1"(2.5cm)).

Buttons:

  • (5) - 1/2”(12mm) for integrated button placket
  • (1) - 3/4”-1”(19-25mm) for button loop on waistband OR one additional concealed waistband closure if eliminating button loop on waistband (see notes).
