ABOUT THE DRESS:

The Fleur dress & blouse is a pretty and versatile pattern. The playful bow ties and gathered peplum add an element of fun to this garment. Plus, a secret placket stops you showing more than you might want to between the bows! Made in a lightweight cotton or linen this is the perfect summer dress or blouse. You can also use a heavier weight fabric and wear the sleeveless version as a pinafore dress in cooler weather.

SEWING LEVEL: Advance beginner

The Fleur dress & blouse features a bias finished neckline and optional sleeves. The tie front top means no fiddly zips or buttonholes.

RECOMMENDED FABRICS

Fabrics with a bit of body such as cotton poplin, linen and lightweight denim will give this garment the structure needed to show off the bows and peplum. For a fancy version, use a sparkly brocade or use a denim or cord to make a winter version.

HOW THE DRESS FITS

The Fleur is a loose fitting dress and blouse. The waist seam sits just above your natural waist and the skirt falls loosely, stopping at low calf length. The placket is designed to stop you showing more than you might want to at the centre front. We have included 2 cup sizes – a B cup and D cup, please see the 'what size should you make?' section on page 4 to see which is the right cup size for you. We have also included 2 bodice shapes – one for the version with sleeves and one for the version without. The version with sleeves only has darts in the D cup. The sleeveless version has a side bust dart in both the B and D cup to give it a better fit.

YOU WILL NEED

  • Your main fabric
  • 15cm (6") iron-on interfacing
  • Thread

  • Basic sewing tools

    Fleur Blouse

Good pattern, sizing correct and easy to follow. My personal issue was the size of the print and just wish the diagrams were a little clearer. Overall good and I’ll make it again.

    Just one tweak please !

Posted by sharon on 6th Jul 2025

I love this pattern. I've made both the dress and the top twice so far and will make more. However... one tweak would make it perfect ! The pattern in a massive 69 pages which I don't want to have to print out every time I wan to make a different version (ie. sleeveless/ with sleeves etc) !! Please please please include a pattern overview/layout/map so that I can easily select the pages i need for the version I want to make next.

Fabric Godmother : The A4 overview is in the file called "Print at Home Instructions"

First time using a fabric godmother pattern and I was really pleased. Instructions were clear easy to follow. I went down one size after reading other reviews and it fits perfectly!

    Truly great for beginners

Posted by Stephanie L on 26th Jun 2025

This is the first clothing item I’ve ever made. I’ve started and stopped a lot of other projects because it got too confusing/limited information. Fabric Godmother really spelled it out and made it simple and easy to understand, right down to which page numbers to print out. The ONLY part where I got a little hung up was on the peplum, I felt like that could have been a little more detailed. Overall, I am very satisfied with this pattern and plan to make it again!

    Fleur blouse

I’ve made this in the blouse and dress previously, so obviously love it! Just noticed a confusing typo in the instructions tho.
No.25 ‘With WRONG sides together stitch front and back peplum pieces tog….’
Really threw me even tho I’ve made it before ??‍♀️

    Perfect summery blouse

Posted by Victoria on 28th Mar 2025

The instructions were detailed, with great pictures that showed every step. The blouse came together really well. The sizing was great. Now I just have to wait for the weather to warm up so I can wear it.

    Fleur dress

I have made two of these now. They are roomy but great with a long sleeved t shirt in the colder months. They also look great in summer. Stylish ties and roomy and floaty for hotter weather. Looks great with trainers and a jacket.

    This pattern

From printing to putting together to making...this is a lovely pattern. I'm not sure the material I'm using is the right weight but I'm persevering and will find out once I've put it all together.
Overall I'm so happy I purchased it and can see me making this more than once.

    Fleur Dress

I would definitely advise making a toile for this dress as it came up very large around the armholes. According to the measuring advice I should have been a size 14 (which I am not). I opted for the size 12 and still found it far too generous around the armholes. I know it’s a loose fitting dress but no one wants to show too much bra!! I also made a slight error in cutting out the front bodice which didn’t affect the overall fit. Would not recommend “print at home” option as too fiddly and easy to miss a tiny extra piece!
