We are so excited to bring you the first ever Fabric Godmother Sewing Retreat. Two days of sewing in a luxury hotel in Brighton with all your meals included and a single occupancy room. Come and sew a project of your choice with friendly tutors on hand to offer support, tips and techniques.
The Retreat
You will be welcomed with refreshments on the first morning while we do introductions and then have a morning of sewing with our tutors on hand if you need support. Lunch will be served at 1pm and then back to sewing. We will stop at 5pm so you can rest, dress for dinner and decompress. We will meet in our private dining room for dinner at 7pm where you will be greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne. You will enjoy a three course meal with wine included and great company.
On the second day, after you have enjoyed a breakfast in the hotel restaurant, the sewing room will be open again from 9am for more sewing. We will stop for lunch again at 1pm and at 3pm there will be an option to go on a shopping trip to the Fabric Godmother studio where you will have a discount on fabric, patterns and haberdashery. We will then return to the hotel for packing up and goodbyes.
The room is bright and airy with your own sewing space to work on which does not need to be packed up overnight so you can pick up where you left easily the next day. Out tutors will be on hand to offer advice, tips and trips and any other help you may need with your chosen project. We will have a supply of tools to use in case you forget any of your own and you are free to use our overlockers and irons.
The Hotel

Hotel du Vin Brighton's prime location amidst the charming, cobbled streets of the Lanes offers an ideal launchpad for exploring Brighton's vibrant heart, capturing the city's effervescent spirit right from our doorstep.
The cost of the retreat is £695 (single occupancy) and a deposit of £200 is required at the time of booking. The remaining amount will need to be paid by August 7th. We can liaise with the hotel if you would like to book an extra night or bring a partner to share the room.
You have the option to pay the full amount or the deposit only and we will contact you to arrange payments in instalments.
The Schedule (approximate times)
Thursday
9.00 - Welcome. Refreshments with hellos.
9.30 - Sewing
12.00 - Dressmaking demo (optional)
13.00 - A delicious lunch will be served in the restaurant with hot and cold options.
14.00 - Sewing
17.00 - Finish sewing for the day
19.00 - Meet for dinner in our private dining room with a glass of champagne on arrival.
Friday
9.00 Sewing room is open
12.00 Dressmaking demo (optional)
13.00 Lunch is served
13.45 Sewing
15.00 Optional shopping trip to the Fabric Godmother studio or continue sewing. (You can choose to stay and sew if you prefer)
16.30 Return for pack up and goodbyes.
What will you need to bring?
- Your sewing project including fabric (prewashed if needed) and haberdashery.
- Your machine if you would like to but we can provide one if you let us know in advance.
- Any sewing tools you may need. We will have a selection of tools in case you forget something.
What we supply
- Irons, ironing boards, overlockers.
- Tools in case you forget anything
- Support with your products from our tutors.
- Goodie bag.
- Transport to the Fabric Godmother studio on the second day.
- A choice of any one of our patterns, printed in the size you would like and sent to you prior to the retreat so you can cut it out if that's your chosen project.
Who is it for
Anyone who has used a machine and has some basic dressmaking skills.

Terms and Conditions
A £200 deposit is due at the time of booking and is non-transferable and non-refundable. The balance is due by 7th August 2025.
The price includes:
- One night stay, single occupancy.
- Buffet lunch on both days.
- Breakfast on the second day.
- Dinner on the first day which includes champagne on arrival, three course meal and wine with your meal.

- A printed PDF pattern of your choice from the Fabric Godmother collection.
- Transport to the Fabric Godmother studio.
In the event that you cannot attend you must contact us by email as soon as possible. We can only refund you if your place is filled. There will be an admin charge of £30 taken.
