December 2024
Welcome to your December 2024 Dream Wardrobe.
UK SIZES 6-30
It’s finally getting chilly here in England. We decided you needed a lovely, snuggly project to keep you inside and busy over the Christmas break.
We have some exclusive fabric for you and a pattern that is a favourite of the Fabric Godmother team.
Sherpa and shearling are having a moment right now, and it’s no surprise. As the nights are drawing in and the days are getting colder, I’ve been reaching for all of my cosiest clothes to get me through.
Everyone needs that super comfy fleece pullover for winter as part of their cold-weather wardrobe.
About the fabric:
We spent a long time designing this stunning fleece fabric, especially for the dream wardrobe. It is an amazing mythological design Sherpa fleece specially woven for Fabric Godmother.
This soft sherpa fleece-coated fabric is ideal for making a super cosy jumper, cardigan, jersey-lined gloves, or a hat or bag!
This sherpa is 85% Recycled poly and 15% Acrylic. It is 150cm wide and 300gsm.
Machine washable at 30 degrees, line dry, do not wring.
I recommend not prewashing this fabric to keep its softness.
This fabric would also work well for:
Atelier Scämmit Berger Gilet
Paper Theory Patterns LB Pullover
Rosie Caldwell – Quilted Tote
About the pattern:
The Pogonip Pullover is the perfect layer for all your outdoor adventures! It is an unlined pullover jacket with welt pockets, a sports collar, and a snap or button half-front placket. It is designed for woven or stable knit fabrics, so you can have a lot of fun with your fabric choice. It looks great in everything from quilted fabrics to fleece to linen! Packing and carrying the Pogonip is a breeze with the fun (and optional) packable pocket (with strap).

Zoe's Sewing Notes
- We decided to eliminate the welt pockets, and packable pocket features of this design because the fleece is quite bulky. If you decide to do this also, you WILL NOT NEED the following pieces:
- Welt (G)
- Packable pocket (M)
Any of the pieces cut from lining fabric:
- 1 X lower front (B) (but you will need one of piece B cut in fleece)
- Front pocket bag (I)
- Back pocket bag (H)
- Packable pocket (M)
- Pocket flap (N)
- Strap (L)
- We decided to include a kangaroo (hoodie style) pocket instead of the welt pockets. If you would also like to add a kangaroo pocket, you will be required to draft an additional pattern piece to your preferred dimensions. We recommend making the pocket pattern piece the same height as the Lower front piece (B), so the top and bottom edges of the pocket get trapped in the seams.
- Cut the Pogonip pattern pieces on a single layer (NOT FOLDED). This allows you to see clearly the design of the fabric. The front piece is comprised of several pattern pieces. When cutting the front pieces out, make sure you will not end up with the same design elements side by side, for example, you won't have the jewel design next to another jewel.
- Please note, cutting fleece creates a fluffy mess! If possible, cut out on a surface that is easy to sweep or wipe clean afterwards.
- We decided not to add interfacing to any of the pieces when making this project. The fleece is thick and doesn't require stabilising.
- Notches marked by a snip into the fabric don't show up easily in fleece fabric. Therefore, we advise marling the notches on the reverse side of the fabric with coloured chalk, or with pins inserted perpendicular to the raw edge of the fabric.
- To avoid melting or damaging the fleece, do not press with your iron at any point. Your iron gets the week off!
- Make sure to use a needle that is suitable for the fleece in both your sewing machine and overlocker, if using. We used Jersey needles size 90/14 in both.
- Because the fleece is pretty thick, if your machine allows you to, we recommend you reduce the presser foot pressure to allow multiple layers to pass through the machine.
- The seam allowance for this pattern is 1cm (3/8"). We recommend stitching the seams with a straight stitch on your sewing machine, then finishing them together on your overlocker if using, positioning the edge so little-to-no fabric will be trimmed away by the blade.
- To attach the charm to the garment, we inserted a loop of narrow ribbon into the horizontal seam at the top of the kangaroo pocket. We advise that you remove the charm when laundering your garment.
- When attaching the collar piece (F) to the neckline (steps 25 & 26), we folded the collar piece in half lengthways (wrong sides together) and attached it to the neckline in one go.
- In the same way, when attaching the sleeve elastic casing (J) and hem elastic casing (K) pieces, we folded these pieces in half lengthways (wrong sides together) and attached them to the sleeves and bottom edge in one go. We left a gap of approx. 4cm to thread the elastic through, which was then stitched closed and the raw edges overlocked together to neaten them.
- We used the
20mm wide supersoft elastic for the cuffs and hem. It's an excellent quality elastic that doesn't squash down or roll like other elastics. This elastic is slightly narrower than pattern calls for but this fleece is quite thick so we left the Sleeve elastic casing (J) and Hem elastic casing (K) pieces unaltered.
