It was Summer week on the Great British Sewing Bee this week and the contestants faced shirring, refashioning hammocks and making a made to measure 2 piece.
I love sewing for summer so it was almost difficult to pick out some of my favourite patterns this week inspired by the Sewing Bee. But I have pulled together my favourite sewing patterns and yes shirring is included. Never tried shirring before? I love the shirring on the Ilma dress from named patterns, perfect hot weather dress that would look great on the beach or at a wedding.
The Dayo dress from Sewing Patterns by Masin uses clever shirring at the waist to fit the dress, it is such a simple dress but really flattering.

I've seen lots of Saguaro Sets popping up on Instagram lately. The Friday Pattern Company have really nailed the 2 piece trend with this versatile set. Make it in double gauze for loungewear and in a slinky fabric for going out out!

Another fabulous 2 piece set is the Florence Palazzo Suit from Liberty Patterns. A real statement set that would also work as a to with jeans or trousers with a simple tee.

I couldn't talk summer patterns with including a couple of sundress patterns, I love the strap details on the back of the Atelier Jupe Chloe Sundress. Also the Christine Haynes Verano Tank Top and Dress is a really great summer pattern.
