DREAMING ABOUT CHERRY FABRIC

Posted by Fabric Godmother on 1st Jan 1970

Ever since the latest series of The Great British Sewing Bee I have been dreaming about fabric with cherries on, now I have got some! It is a great cotton poplin at £15 per metre. The questions are do I go black or white and what do I make?
I don't want to go for the classic 50's style flared dress as I think it's a bit too predictable (sorry to anyone who has made one of these or wants to) but I totally think that this fabric deserves bit of retro styling.

After many hours on Pinterest I was struck most by this pictures of Marilyn Monroe looking adorable in a cherry print wrap dress.

Bingo a By Hand London Kim with wrap skirt in the white it is.

But then I thought what about a playsuit? HOW cute would that be? SO maybe I should also make a By Hand London Holly short version in black (assuming the sun will come out properly at some point this year!)

Do you have any plans for sewing this lovely cherry fabric?

Happy sewing xxx
