American textiles a colourful story

Posted by Fabric Godmother on 1st Jan 1970

In 1789 Samuel Slater boarded a ship from England to America and took with him the knowledge of how to make a loom. This was the beginning of the American textile industry.

The NY Times took these amazing photos and wrote and story about the few remaining textile mills in the US.  The bright colours are stunning and the article is well worth a read. NY Times
