    Fab Zero Waste shirt

Posted by Whey Aye Sew on 17th Apr 2023

This pdf gives you the dimensions of a one-size shirt which you can draw directly onto your fabric, or make templates as I did. All of the pattern pieces are cut from shapes with straight sides so they lie touching each other offering zero waste. Absolute genius! This is my wearable toile (the remains of a tablecloth, plus some leftover broderie anglaise) because there was no way I was going to cut into the good stuff before I was sure of the outcome.

The only tricky part to be aware of is attaching the cuffs. Otherwise, a very straightforward make. I cheated by sewing the buttons directly onto the fabric. That, along with the zero waste and the minimal fabric requirement pushes this pattern from Birgitta Helmersson into a 5 star rating as far as I'm concerned. I've already made a second in some precious Kokka fabric.
